On Monday, May 8th, students from the Milbridge Elementary EdGE program joined Farmer Michael at the IEM Market Garden at the Red Barn Motel. The children helped to move compost from the pile to the garden beds in quart-sized containers; lots of running back and forth for the kids!
They also helped to pull straw off the garden beds and stomped it down into the pathways making way for a fresh crop of new veggies. Incredible Edible Milbridge coordinator for the WHRL, Pam Dyer Stewart, worked with the children to plant peas.
There is much to do in the garden this time of year. Click here to learn more about IEM spring activities and volunteering!
